Full Version: Knowledgebase Not Searchable?
Stuffed Guys Forums > Archive > FN - Bug reports

Not sure if this is a bug or not... and this problem was found in the online demo.

Information posted to the Knowledge Base was not searchable. To verify I entered content into other parts of FN (like projects, discussion, etc.)... and was able to correctly "Search" for that information. But I could not find the information in the KB.

Having enjoyed our purchase of the Stuffed Tracker, we thought we'd give Factory Nova a try... the only thing missing for us was a centralized Address Book, which I thought I could use the Knowledge Base as a work around [Category: Contacts], and then add "Comments" with user names and addresses... the key to this working of course would be being able to do a search for those names.

Hello,

Can you please be more specific, what you have tried to search for?

For example, this search is working ok in the demo:
http://try.factorynova.com/code/search/sea...=0&projid=1

Sorry... I should have been more specific...

(I duplicated my "problem")
  • I logged into the demo as Admin
  • I went into a Project, clicked on Knowledgebase tab
  • (empty) So I created a category called "Contacts"
  • I then added a Comment ... I made up a fake name, address, etc.
  • I then went to the main screen (Project listing), and attempted a search "Everywhere" for the individual parts of the content I made up in the Comments
  • No matter what I searched for, I received "Unfortunately your search did not return any results"
  • However if I put content in other places - such as a project task, I am able to successfully search and find the results

While re-validating my results, this time, I logged in as Client in the demo and had a bigger issue... I verified that the database was the same as for Admin by going to the Knowledgebase and seeing the content I had created as Admin. But this time when I searched for the made up first name "Timothy" ... I got a Red Stop light, and a message that said "A critical database error has occurred. Please notify administrator about the problem."

Thanks for providing all the details.

It appears that the comments to the knowledge base articles are not searchable now, while the articles themselves can be searched without problems.

We will fix this in the 1.2.1 bugfix release.

Regarding the critical error that you've got -- the demo still uses an old 1.1.0 version of the code and probably that's causing the problem since I wasn't able to reproduce it in the latest version. We will update the demo version soon and then we can try to reproduce the critical error again.

Thanks.

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, thinking I may have helped contribute even just a little bit. proud.gif Your support has always been top-notch... I have to tell you... that alone is what makes up for wishing that FN had this, or had that feature/module whatever. There may be some things "lacking" now... but listening to your customers and being as responsive as you are, I'm sure many more great things are coming!

Keep up the good work!
