This should be an easy fix... The worklog display the last entry at the bottom. Wouldn't it be much more easy to bring it to the top? I might hack the code myself if you put me on the right way (which files?)

I like the "sticky tabs" idea (e.g. worklog is the default tab if that's what you had been looking at).

How about a sort order arrow (up/down) for any of the tabs (e.g. discussions could be newest-on-top too), but have FN remember the preferred order? I don't think this needs to be per project/task, just a personal sticky setting for "order of Discussions listing".
